Myofascial Decompression
Myofascial decompression (MFD) is a type of cupping therapy that addresses connective tissue restriction by improving the mobility of the soft tissue layers (muscle and fascia). The use of negative pressure with the cups helps create space between the soft tissue layers that allows each layer to slide on each other with improved efficiency. Cups are generally left on for 3-4 minutes and combined with the patient performing movement and neuromuscular re-education drills.
+ Is MFD covered by my insurance?
MFD is done by our trained Registered Massage Therapists and would be billed as such. If you are worried about coverage be sure to check your massage therapy coverage with your unique insurance plan.
+ Do I need to get undressed?
No. MFD is done clothed. It is best if you are able to bring in shorts and sports bra so that there is space to place the cups and you have the ability to move freely.
